Jeannie Mai says ‘nothing prepared’ her for postpartum

Jeannie Mai feels like her lower half is “about to fall off” after welcoming her first child earlier this month.

“While being a new mom is the most exhilarating moment I have ever experienced in my life— nothing prepared me for postpartum. NOTHING,” she captioned an Instagram post on Monday. “No book I’ve read, advice I’ve gotten, that could have compiled ALL the things I’d need just to sit, lay down, walk, or even hold our baby.”

She added, “The 4th trimester has been the hardest trimester yet, but I’m a happy, healing mom over here 💁🏻‍♀️ #postpartum.”

She also took to her Instagram Story, telling fans that she isn’t going to rush into snapping her body back.

“I got so much respect for moms. Next level. I’m in my first week of postpartum and I definitely don’t feel ready for recovery,” she shared, adding, “That feels like a long time away ’cause I feel like my body is still reacting from what just happened.”

She continued, “There’s this crazy intense pressure down here. The craziest is getting up to walk, because it feels like this entire compartment down from the belly button is about to fall off.”

Mai shared a photo showing off her postpartum body where she was wearing high-waisted gray shorts and a black bralette.

“This was me a few days postpartum and my God, I’ve been LIVING in these @fridamom briefs,” she wrote in her post. “They’re LEGIT the best damn thing!”

Mai announced that she welcomed her first child, Monaco, with Jeezy on Jan. 11 in an Instagram post, captioning the photo, “I asked God for a life of love and happiness. He sent me my family. Baby Jenkins is here .”

The talk show host and Jeezy — whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins — tied the knot in April 2021 following her divorce from her first husband, Freddy Harteis, in 2017.

Interestingly, Mai and Harteis split due to “The Real” star not wanting to have children with the actor.

But her views on motherhood changed when she fell in love with the rapper.

“You know, I was like, I know exactly what I want, I know exactly what kind of woman I want to be, and I always said, I’d never be a mom,” Mai shared while announcing her pregnancy back in September 2021. “And there’s so many reasons now that are coming to fruition as to why I would have said that then, but I do know that you never say never, and that love can really change you.”

Mai then Mai immediately began IVF treatments on their wedding day so they could start a family together.
